A Modernist Bungalow

Designing a house for CBC's Murdoch Mysteries' star, Yannick Bisson and family, started with a small addition and culminated into a completely new split level plan. Exposed concrete floors, commercial grade windows, a Scavolini kitchen, custom walnut millwork and large planes of tempered glass play off each other to create a simple modernist interior. Gordon Ridgely Architects and contractor Upside Development completed the team. Open concept and airy in feel, the hard finishes are softened by contemporary and mid-century modern furniture, rustic beams and the exterior view to a stunning ravine lot. Bathrooms are simple and clean lined while restful and inviting. The living space is connected to the split level bedrooms above by a floating sculptural stair.
